Weekly Yaasss: A November Reading List and Robo-News

The Weekly Yaasss is a round-up of everything Reviews & Robots, and beyond! Get up to date on last week’s articles, find a few yaasss-worthy things in sci-fi for the week, and check out the upcoming books I’m adding to my reading list.

This week’s list includes a bevy of robot news and some upcoming reads I can’t wait to get into!

Sci-Fi Articles That Caught My Eye

AI Humanoid ‘Sophia’ Is Granted First Ever Robot Visa, Speaks With President, Forbes

Sophia is coming for us! I’m picturing a world tour filled with publicity stops and photo opps. Not exactly a scary war with robots, but you never know. In all honesty, she seems pretty nice, but is it all just an act?

Works well with humans: Robot helpers, The Seattle Times

This is how all of the robot fiction starts. We invent them to fill some menial tasks, helping people in their daily lives. Eventually, they outnumber us. I realize I seem pretty paranoid this week but hey, I’ve been reading science fiction endlessly since June.

The Robot Revolution Is Coming, and Dang Is It Cute, The Wall Street Journal

To end this week’s obsession with robot news, let’s round it out with some cute robots that have no chance of taking over the world. I remember the 90s obsession with robotic dogs that nobody actually owned but everyone wanted. For only $2,000, you can have a cute little friend as well!
